Dynamo

A Century of Light and Movement in Art, 1913-2013

from the 2013-04-10 until the 2013-07-22

At Grand Palais, the public will discover a large exhibition entitled Dynamo, A Century of Light and Movement in Art, 1913-2013, to show how, over the last fifteen years, many artists have attempted to deal with the concepts of vision, space and light. The challenge is audacious: to present within a single exhibition the (many) concepts of movement, vision and space in the abstract art of the 20th century.
In total, nearly 170 artists will be exhibited in 3900 m² of the Grand Palais, divided into two areas respectively dealing with space and vision. A third part presents the sources of these trends: how to translate movement, and use light.
After an initial immersion in recent works by Anish Kapoor, Xavier Veilhan, John Armleder, Carsten Höller, Jeppe Hein and Felice Varini, you can go back in time and discover art movements such as optical, kinetic or perceptual art.
A stunning artistic journey that offers visual and spatial experiences, during which you can admire the work of some of the greatest artists such as Jean Tinguely, Jesús Rafael Soto, Marcel Duchamp, Yayoi Kusama, Dan Graham, Kenneth Noland, etc.
