Rabindranath Tagore was a poet before becoming a painter, and even won the Nobel prize for literature in 1913.
Although he only took up painting at the age of 67, Rabindranath Tagore has nevertheless produced more than 2500 paintings and drawings, 98 of them are at the Petit Palais. Rabindranath Tagore’s pictorial works, which are deeply humanistic, are sometimes compared to western impressionism, although they do not belong to any particular school.
This exhibition, entitled "The Last Harvest" portrays the Tagore’s last creations in the 30's. An array of landscapes, animals, portraits and colourful or abstract scenes: paintings without names as if to encourage the viewer to delve into his own imagination.
