The Intricate Mysteries Of Mysterieux Coffrets

The Paris Musee de Cluny is preparing for a historical exhibition with a difference this year. The theme of the show centres around a series of 140 exquisitely carved wooden chests. Mysterious Chests: Engravings at the age of The Lady and the Unicorn looks at the work of Jean d’Ypres and studies of The Lady and the Unicorn tapestry. Visitors can learn more about his work through these ancient chests. Each item is a work of art in itself with the craftsmanship of the leather, work and ironwork.

Remarkably, around a quarter of those 140 chests have been collected for this exhibit – making this a must-see showcase of the work. These “Mysterieux Coffrets” are a curious and unique part of French art history. History lovers and art lovers alike are encouraged to head to the museum and take a look. The show begins on the 18th of September and continues through to January 6th.
