Chagall, Lissitzky, Malevitch

the Russian Avant-Garde at Centre Pompidou Paris

from the 2018-03-28 until the 2018-07-16

In 1918 a group of revolutionary Russian artists began an important movement in the Post-war art world. The Russian Avant-Garde movement brought bold statements in modernism and Cubism via the renowned Vitebsk Art School. This year, therefore, brings the centenary of this movement and is the perfect time for a major exhibition on the subject. "Chagall, Lissitzky, Malevitch: the Russian Avant-Garde" showcases more than 200 pieces from these three leading artists at the Centre Pompidou.

This is an important moment, and one that many art historians might say is overdue. Until now, Paris has not offered this sort of retrospective for the Vitebsk Art School. This has denied artists and students the chance to study these masters up close and learn more about the era. The breadth of this exhibit means that visitors can compare the work of the trio, and see their progression from 1918 to 1922. The exhibition is already in progress and continues until July 16th.
